Q: "Why Upgrade ?"
I think you need to add another category although it will be quite hard to condense it. It should go something like this;
" I'm basically a snob with delusions of self importance and would like to demonstrate to my Geeky, nerdy and rather sad Hi-Fi forums addict friends just how rich and successful i am by upgrading to the newest and best new toys, then immediately getting on the .net to let everybody know what i've done. If it has a small illuminated green logo, and an incrementally higher model number, then so much the better. I will admit though i now seem to spend more time sitting down at a computer talking and writing about my Hi-Fi , than actually sitting down and going through my albums and listening to them. The 'posted' timings, length, content and sheer number of postings that i make each week are a testament to this fact, ( i also know I'm kidding nobody by saying that I'm a fast typist).
Although i am a middle aged gent who's hearing is pretty much knackered , mostly due to my age (and there's nothing i can do about that), i would still like to dream on that i am in my prime. I feel that now i have managed to get on in life and can finally afford to buy the things that i wanted all them years ago , i'm actually too old to enjoy them quite as much as i would if i where a young jack, its a very cruel world i live in.
I try to incorporate phrases like "Grooves like a B**ard", " Fun piece of kit", "Foot tapping, funky sound" into my creative internet writing to give the impression that my rather expensive Hi-Fi isn't wasted on me even though actually dancing to music isn't my bag anymore. I couldn't physically demonstrate the meaning of pace , rythym or timing if my life depended on it, my reactions and reflexes not being what they used to be, and as for actually grooving.....
Although the Hi-Fi i own at the moment is perfectly good and reproduces music in a manner that any sane person would think is outstanding, i really do need to let everybody know that I love music more than them. I now own so many records and CD's that even if i sat down and listened for 8 hours straight, every day without a break for many weeks i wouldn't even put a dent in my collection. I certainly wouldn't enjoy them all. I believe that owning lots of different titles makes people think i love my music more than them, and demonstrates just how serious i am.
