Formula One outfit Caterham Group is making a foray into the high-performance bicycle business with its newly launched bicycle, the Duo Cali.
“The bicycle will only be produced at a limited production of 99 units and showcases our world-class innovation in lightweight racing technology and aerodynamics,” said Caterham Group chief executive officer Riad Asmat at the launch of the bicycle.
Made by Caterham Composites, the bicycle comes in at a weight of only six kilogrammes and is retailed at 10,000 euros (RM40,275).
Riad said although the company was looking at customers globally, he expected customers to come from mainly Europe and Asia.
The Duo Cali is built as a carbon monocoque and is designed based on the group's F1 practical engineering experience.
Touted as a revolutionary new concept in bicycle design, it features an electronic gear shifting built into the frame of the bicycle itself, an industry-first.
