Simple PS Technique to Improve Color & Saturation

Some of you may already know how to do this in Photoshop, but for those who don't. this is a very simple way to improve color and saturation in PS :modlaugh:

Step 1

Open the photo in Photoshop

This is a fine photo, but looks a bit flat. Let's see how simple PS technique can improve it :modlaugh:

Step 2

Select "Levels" in the Layers window

Adjust the highlight (right) slider in Levels to the right edge of the histogram

Adjust the Shadow (left) slider to the right edge of the histogram

Step 5

If the midtones look fine, then skip this step. For this photo, I think the midtones looks a bit too bright. Select the middle slider for midtones and adjust it to the right side until it looks good to you. Use your own eyes to judge what looks good to you. I can't help you with this :modlaugh:

Step 6

If all looks fine, click "OK" now to close the Levels palate

Although the photo now already looks better with more snap to it. The next step will make the color really saturated :modlaugh:

Step 7

Select "Hue/Saturation" in the Layers window

Step 8

Now adjust the saturation slider to the right. Use your own eyes to judge. Often, adding 30 to 40 to saturation is fine. There is no fixed amount, it will be different for different photos. :modlaugh:
