In fact, most of the inter-connect links for audio are XLR Balanced Cables within my AV system except the 5.1 analog.

Therefore, I dig out from my surplus items 3 pairs (6 Nos.) RCA cables used in the old days.
Hisago HD-AP28 PC-OCC (6N OFC) High Grade Audio Cable - Made in Japan
I use them as 5.1 RCA connections between DTC-9.8 and Lexicon MC-12B.
The performance is satisfactory.

Lexicon MC-12B perform surround sound processing while DTC-9.8 handle HD Audio decoding and Video switching.

All the HDMI cables are connected within DTC-9.8 (4 in 2 out switching).
HDMI Cables: Wireworld Silver Starlight for 1080P and Wireworld Ultraviolet for 1080i/720P.

HDMI Input: --> DTC-9.8
(1) Blu-ray Player: Denon 2500 BTCi [1080P: Silver Starlight 1m]
(2) DVD Player: Marantz DV9500 [720P: Ultraviolet 1m]
(3) DVHS Player: Victor HM-DHX2 [1080i: Ultraviolet 1m]
(4) HD Player: HTPC [1080P: Silver Starlight 2m]

HDMI Output: DTC-9.8 -->
(1) DLP Projector [1080P: Silver Starlight 9m]
(2) LCD TV Monitor [1080i: Ultraviolet 2m]

Use the DTC-9.8 as Audio Decoder and input to Lexicon for Sound Processing.

Besides, the DTC-9.8 handle the HDMI video switching (4 in 2 out) as well as upscale for DVD / DVHS video.

hi , just read your post , i m interested if we used the bluray player to decode and use analog out to a old flagship product like krell or lexicon ....or just use player bistream to integra 9.8 directly to power amp , do you ever try which will get better sound quality ? or whats the different ? thanks a lot

I tried and compared the following setup in the past:

(1) Denon 2500BTCi --> (HDMI) Integra DTC-9.8 --> Output to Speakers

(2) Denon 2500BTCi --> (HDMI) Integra DTC-9.8 --> (Analog 5.1) Lexicon MC-12B --> Output to Speakers

(3) Pioneer BDP-09FD --> (HDMI) Integra DTC-9.8 --> Output to Speakers

(4) Pioneer BDP-09FD --> (Analog 5.1) Lexicon MC-12B --> Output to Speakers

Performance : (4) > (3) > (2) > (1)



The performance of option (4) is the best sound so I adopt it now.
(4) Pioneer BDP-09FD --> (Analog 5.1) Lexicon MC-12B --> Output to Speakers




Previous try and compare:
(1) Denon 2500BTCi --> (HDMI) Integra DTC-9.8 --> Output to Speakers


(2) Denon 2500BTCi --> (HDMI) Integra DTC-9.8 --> (Analog 5.1) Lexicon MC-12B --> Output to Speakers




Hence, I do suggest you to get a high performance Blu-ray player and use its internal decoding then output by 5.1 / 7.1 analog to your high class power amp.

It will not only save your money but also can make full use of your old gears of high quality and performance.

thanks , because i m thinking of upgrade my yamaha 3800 to krell hts 7.1 ,i m using earthquake power amp and i have denon 2500 as well , so i need to buy a bluray player that can decode . thats why i ask you your opinion . is the different obvious ? how many percent you will say?and which kind of different is it? thanks a lot

i have an idea , how about using pioneer 09 to integra 9.8 , using hdmi and analog both , which conection will get better result . because your test already told us lexicon still can beat the japan av amp . but its interesting if just depends who can decode better .
