Home Visit to Tony's Theatre with James

I rushed back from Chongqing yesterday evening under the extremely cold weather with snowing at night in order to attend the visit to Tony's home (arranged by James) today evening.



Due to James was very busy on fine tuning his Audio Wilson Watt Puppy 7 speakers with the help of 2 HiFi experts from Shanghai & Taiwan, I was picked up by James' wife Linda instead at 7:00pm tonight. After 5 minutes drive, I arrived at James' home meeting the two HiFi experts as well as BigMouthBoy and his nice girl friend at James great AV/HiFi Room. After basic tuning, the sound from his Puppy 7 had been improved and the ajustment work would be continued after visiting Tony's home.

Immediately after a quick dinner at the nearby fast food resturant, seven of us (James, Linda, Bigmouthboy, his girl friend, myself and two HiFi Experts) arrived at Tony's big villa of around 580 sq. metres (2 storey high with a basement).



The decoration of Tony's viila was designed by him and he also did some actual installation and building works. The interior designs were very attractive.

After entering the main door, the left hand side is the dinning table and a big open kitchen. On the right, is a sitting room fitted with DLP rear projection TV.

The special purpose built AV room is located at the Basement of the villa.



The design and building of the AV room was carried out mainly byTony himself together with the help of some carpenters. The entire ceiling and side walls are fitted with absorbent materials. Besides, they are all in dark blue or black in colour.



Due to there are not many light inside the AV room as well as I do not have a tripod, the photo quality were relatively poor. Sorry for the poor pictures taken.

Once again, Tony's speaker system (7.1) are all from M&K, (1) LCR-750 THX x 3 Front Left Right Centre
(2) SS 550 THX x 4 Side & Rear Surround
(3) V1250 THX Subwoofer



The screen is also made up by Tony himself using a 150" Da-lite 4:3 manual pull as raw fabric of 2.8 high gain power. He cut the fabric and mounted it with stainless steel grid supporting frame into a fixed 133" 16:9 screen with a viewing angle of 16 degree which just fit his AV room.



The maximum viewing distant is around 5.8 metre from the screen.



The projector is a very big and heavy Sony 9" CRT projector (I forgot the model no. ??). It need to turn on and warm up for at least 15 to 30 miuntes to get optimum picture quality.

During the warming up of the projector, Tony provided some music picking from his favour software.

After warm-up period, the projector is ready for delivery picture for our audition.

Tony's HiFi and AV Equipment is relatively simple:

On the left hand side are Copland CDP with Moon Integrated Amplifier.

On the right hand side are Denon 3801 AV Amplifier with Pioneer 969 DVDP.

All the connecting cables are DIY by Tony himself.

On the right hand side wall, there are storage shelf for the DVD and CD software.

At the back, there is a very big sofa or bed can able to accommodate at least 6 to 7 persons.

The rear centre speakers are M&K SS550.
