Frankly speaking, if you have listened the M&K MX-150 or MX-350 under THX settings:

you should not or cannot hear any bass below 20Hz <-- all cut by THX requirements
(To ensure without distortion & sufficient output 105dB)

I believe this is the part of the reasons why SVS (not THX certified) can have deeper bass response than M&K (THX certified) under THX settings.

However, if you like deeper bass or lower frequencies below 20Hz to be delivered by your M&K MX subwoofer, you can switch the Bass EQ to "Extended". With this mode, you can have deeper bass but not to THX standards anymore.

Hope the above can provide a little bit in-sight for brothers who have the M&K MX subwoofers to adjust their settings to their preference ways.

by the way, although there is a difference between a $20 and $500 power cable, the difference between $1000 and $500 might not be so much, so don't use too much money on cables. (unless you are super rich )

There may have some argument on whether we need to get THX certified AV equipment or Non THX certified products.

If the price is the same, I will surely go for THX certified products for simple reason which will guarantee to meet an industrial high-quality and high-performance standards accepted by worldwide professionals.

Anyway, some people may not like those THX settings (not equipment) as they limit the extends which will distort under high output. In general, the performance of THX certified equipment is superior to or at least not inferior to those so-called equivalent equipment.

If the equipment can fulfil the stringent THX requirement, it should be sent for certification (although it involves cost)!
